How did you two meet?
Makala: "Jared and I have known each other almost our whole lives! We grew up together but I never had any feelings for him. He liked me during high school, but I still would not give him the time of day. We went our separate ways, I went to college, he went into the army. When he came back from basic training for Christmas, we started hanging out more and the Lord started changing my heart for him. By New Year's day we started officially dating and the rest is history!"

What was it like early in your relationship?
Makala: "Awkward and uncertain but super fun! We were doing the long distance relationship since he was in the army, so there were Skype dates, phone calls and text messages."

How long have you been together?
Makala: "We have been together for almost 4 years. It will be 4 years on January 1st."

Name one thing you love about each other.
Makala: "I love the way he jokes around and tries to bring out the best in me even when I don't see the best in me."

Jared: "I love the way she balances me out and support me even when it gets tough."

Proposal Story?
Makala: "Jared had asked my mom and grandpa for permission beforehand. He proposed at the park in Blowing Rock. He tricked me in thinking we were meeting someone there to give them some papers. He said that he had to meet them in the gazebo and when I was looking around to find the person whom I did not know, I turned around and he was down on one knee. I kept asking him if he was sure and if he had asked my mom!"

What's next for the two of you?
Makala: "Next is to figure how to live with each other and to love each other well. We want to take it a day at a time and pursue the other and to always date each other."

Tell me any funny story involving the two of you.
Makala: "Our first date we went to Bristol in Lights and on the way home he pulled over in a random parking lot to teach me how to drive is stick shift truck. I had no idea what I was doing and I killed it a few times and then switching gears sounded terrible! I remember laughing and telling him I felt like Noah and Ally on the Notebook. He was and still is so sweet and patient with me."
